Meredith Shay, President
InCord

Professional History/business:

My first work experience was cutting netting during summer vacations while in high school. I began my career at InCord in 2011 after graduating from the College of Charleston with a double major in International Business and Spanish and a minor in French. I started as a Project Manager and quickly advanced to Production Manager in 2013. By 2016, at 27 years old, I was promoted to Operations Manager, overseeing 80+ employees across eight divisions and managing partnerships with domestic and international suppliers. In 2017, I joined the Board of Directors as Chief Operations Officer and minority-owner, and in 2018, I assumed the role of CEO. At 29, in 2020 at the start of pandemic, I became President and co-owner of InCord. I am a proud steward of an incredible company and legacy established by the founders of the company thirty years ago.

Family

I co-own InCord with my sister, Robin Ritz, the company’s Creative Visionary. Our father, Ed Ritz, had started InCord in 1995 with Bob and Mary Martin. We were grateful to grow up in the company with exemplary models of a successful business partnership.

I am married and a proud mother of three children. Beyond my job, I enjoy being a compassionate mentor and respected thought leader, dedicating time to committees and advisory boards that strengthen local manufacturing and workforce development. I stay deeply connected to my community while balancing family life and leading InCord with passion and purpose.

Business

InCord’s mission is simple: to provide the highest-quality safety netting through innovative technology and a commitment to excellence. We aim to exceed our clients’ expectations by delivering custom solutions that enhance safety and reduce risk. From industrial and construction sites to sports facilities and theme parks, our products are designed to protect people and assets in every environment. Our woman-owned plant in Colchester, CT, is ISO-9001 certified. We are proud to be recognized as a Connecticut Top Workplace every year since 2011 when the program started. At InCord, innovation, quality, and a strong team culture drive everything we do. Our success is due to our ability to change, adapt, innovate, and grow.

Profession Goal

My goal for 2026 is to continue to develop and enhance our strong and lasting partnerships with customers. I am committed to delivering high-quality products that enhance safety across industries through employee training and empowerment at every level. I am focused on fostering an environment where every team member feels value and supported through ensuring each has the tools and space and time necessary to create a better future.

Memorable YPO Experience

My first forum retreat was a life changing experience. In the unique setting away from business and family, I was able to share my “why” with my forum members and received insights shaped by their experiences which inspired me and re-energized me in how to approach the delicate balance of personal, family, and career goals with the health and wellbeing of the company I am running.
