About James Smith:

After nearly 10 years with Verizon Wireless building the 1G thru 3G networks, James joined his Father In-Law, Chuck Munigle, at Universal Connectivity in 2000. James acted as VP until Chuck’s retirement in 2007. James guided the company through significant growth and innovation after taking over as President. He transformed Universal from its founding as a long-distance phone provider in 1995 to a full-service cloud telecommunications and IT tech stack services provider today.

Meet the Smith Family:

James is not only a dedicated business leader, he is also a devoted family man. He lives in West Hartford, CT with his wife, Heather, and their two children, Lauren (20) and Griffin (18). The family loves to travel, golf, ski, and engage in some pretty competitive pickleball matches. James is from a large family with eight siblings, and Heather has seven siblings. Both are passionate about fostering a family-oriented culture at Universal Connectivity and working closely with the team to ensure a collaborative and supportive environment. This commitment to family values is reflected in the company’s ethos and operations.

Universal Connectivity is known for its comprehensive telecommunications solutions, including cloud phone and call center services, network infrastructure, and managed secure IT services. The company delivers reliable and innovative solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of its clients. Universal completed its AICPA SOC2 Type II certification in 2024 demonstrating the company's commitment to maintaining the highest standards of security, availability, and confidentiality. Complying with this certification ensures that Universal Connectivity’s systems and processes effectively protect customer data over extended periods. This is crucial for building customer trust and meeting compliance requirements in today's data-driven business environment. 

2025 Goals for Universal Connectivity:

James is excited about the future of Universal Connectivity. He plans to expand its 5G wireless service offerings and enhance the AI and Cyber Security solutions sets in 2025. Universal Connectivity’s mission is to enhance its clients' growth and competitiveness by delivering forward-thinking, scalable communication systems and tools for growing mid-market companies
